Together We Can Conquer Senior Hunger & Isolation!

Help Support the Fairbanks Meals on Wheels Program's 2024 Year-Long Funding Goal!

Meals On Wheels is a State funded program for qualified individuals.

Since the 1950s, Congress has provided funding—through the Older Americans Act—which helps run community-based senior nutrition programs, such as Meals on Wheels, across the nation. In 1973, the Fairbanks Senior Center established the first Meals on Wheels program in the interior of Alaska; to this day, we are still the only one!

With help from our wonderful volunteer drivers, we serve home bound seniors and disabled individuals a hot lunch 5 days a week.

Last year we served 448 individuals—a 59% increase from the year before—for a total of 76,927 meals served. Unfortunately, our funding has not kept pace with this growth; we are able to continue the program thanks to generous support from the community.

This program is a critical program helping our Seniors stay in their home as long as possible. We, the staff of the Senior Center, are extremely proud of being a part of this program which helps so many folks. If you have a few extra dollars please donate to the fund so that we are able to continue to do what we do for our elders.
