Please support the Fairbanks Senior Center Year-End Giving Campaign
Dear Friends,
For almost 50 years, your Fairbanks Senior Center has been providing services and programs that not only alleviate hunger, they allow seniors to live independently with dignity in their own homes. This year brought new and unique challenges as the COVID-19 pandemic reached our community. As COVID continues to spread, safely feeding and caring for our seniors is essential.
With your help, the Fairbanks Senior Center is ready to do just that. Please read the below impact of your support this past year, and then consider a generous, tax-deductible contribution of $100, $250, $500, or even $1,000.
The Fairbanks Senior Center has seen its fair share of challenges over the years, and yet, our goal to end senior hunger and isolation has never wavered. This year has been the most challenging yet, still we know we can count on the compassion and determination of our staff, volunteers, and supporters like you, to meet the needs of the seniors in our community.
Despite the challenges that have arisen from COVID-19, we have a lot of victories to report. We want to make sure you know how much you, as volunteers and donors, are doing to help mitigate the effects of the pandemic in our community.
Together we have:
- Safely delivered delicious, nutritious meals to hundreds of our senior and disabled neighbors;
- Helped local senior veterans with critical home repairs and modifications to improve safety and accessibility through the Helping Homebound Heroes Grant Program;
- Provided community connections and a social support network to homebound seniors through our new Silver Squad Telephone Wellness Check Program; and
- Organized volunteers who delivered groceries, household supplies, prescriptions, emergency food boxes, and produce from local markets. All while keeping everyone socially distanced and safe.
As we head into the holiday season, please remember that your senior neighbors still need your help. The pandemic has affected seniors the most because many already have health risks that place them in the high-risk category for contracting COVID-19. With the holidays around the corner, many seniors will miss out on seeing their loved ones as they remain in isolation due to COVID. The holidays can be a very stressful and sad time of the year for our seniors already.
You can do something for our seniors right now! Make a gift today to provide hot, nutritious meals and community support this holiday season and in 2021.
In times like this, we’re reminded how interconnected we all are. Thank you for everything you do to support our community. Together, we are going to safely care for our elderly this season and always.
